I just read a post that announced Richard Dawkins was stepping down from Oxford to study the effects that Harry Potter has on kids. I am not troubled by Dawkins stepping down–I am troubled that Dawkins is first and foremost anti-Christian (as his poorly argued-yet well received book The God Delusion demonstrates). I am also troubled [...]

Fall is here!

Today, I went home to eat lunch. As I walked from the church to the parsonage, I could not help but “feel” winter approaching. The temp is 49 degress at noon, and the foliage is beautiful.

WOW! The weekend is over–where do I begin? Shall I begin by telling you that on my way home from school Friday night I saw a parking lot full of cars. What were they doing? They were getting prepared for the stew (to be cooked at 5:30 am), yard sale (to begin at 7 pm), [...]
Community Prayer Time: Ethiopia
Posted in Community, Encouragement, Missions on October 26, 2008 | Leave a Comment »
We have had four community prayer times for our upcoming mission trip to Ethiopia. I am learning that “being” the church if far more fruitful then “doing church.” I have a theological conviction that these community prayer times are going to be used in a very powerful way! 1. I do not liked being tagged because I am not sure who to tag.
2. I stay very busy and often feel like a one legged man in a butt kicking contest.
3. [...]
Tea Anyone?

For some reason, I am thinking of the McCoy visit last week. Our family loves to have company-especially our parents (grandparents)!
Here the kids are having ‘tea’ with grandma – a special tradition for the kids. They usually have ‘tea’ when grandma is around.
The Church “Being” the Church: Widows and those under trials
Posted in Community, Encouragement, Missions, The Christian Life on October 18, 2008 | 2 Comments »
Christians are often guilty of “doing” church instead of “being” the church. However, this is not true everywhere. I believe Bethel Hill Baptist Church makes a serious effort to “be” the church. Oh, we are not perfect, we have not obtained, but we do press on (Phil 3:12). The above pictures are from two weeks [...]
